It’s now 11 days till the road trip officially starts.
The past weekend was spent introducing the family to the crazy idea of a blog and how it is much better, cheaper and more interesting than emails and random phone calls at 4am in the morning (due to us not knowing the current time-zone we’re in…).
We’re thinking that a good way to keep in touch will be some form of special “abroad” add-on from O2 to allow us to be able to Facebook, Tweet, text & Skype – we’re making damned sure we don’t whacked with a massive phone bill when we get home – that would totally ruin the post-holiday afterglow.
So to our confused parents, siblings and grandparents – welcome to the blog (and the 21st century…)

We’re glad you didn’t include us in the technophobic stereotyping. Have a good trip, we will follow your every tweet with envy, assuming we can crank the generator and find enough paraffin to power this interweb thing.
I know we have discussed in detail things to watch out for in relation to personal safety. Just one thing I did not mention …….. please don’t be storm chasers!!! If you encounter dust storms,tornados, truck toppling winds, just drive the other way………………………..fast.
